Have you seen my stapler?

So again it has been awhile since I've released v1.06, plus Matt got on my case as usual to update, thus here is your update Matt.

First things first...today at work I realized that my Red (more maroon, but close enough) Swingline stapler is missing. If any of you know who might have it, well I'd like it back. I mean really, who wants a red stapler? I guess someone in the office must.

Anyway, since my last post, I've been to Boise, had a blast out there as always and started my new job. The job is fricking awesome so far and I just completed the first project they assigned me. For those of you who have ever installed software of any kind, well I was responsible for putting an installer together for one of our applications. Trust me you may think, all that goes into it is clicking 'Next', but not the case. I have a whole new appreciation for that little button. I suggest you do as well. I have to say though that this is the first project I've worked on since my CIS 540 face emotion program. It was really cool because I was able to research the tool that makes the installer and really get a good feel for it. So far so good on the new job and Matt...I'm trying my best.

Man let me tell you I'm pretty stoked about the Jack Johnson concert next Friday. I've been listening to his new CD (by the way pick it up if you don't have it because it is awesome) a lot lately. The show has been sold out for months, but it sucks because it is all GA, so its going to be about getting there early. It should be an awesome show only to be followed up by Dave a week and a half later. I'm a little disappointed that O.A.R. isn't opening and it is Victor Wooten, but I've heard some of his stuff and it is good. That would have been a killer show though, oh well.

I'm so glad my favorite baseball team isn't the Royals because they are pitiful. They lost their 19th in a row tonight to the A's and have no real sight in winning again anytime soon as they play the Red Sox next. Pathetic, at least football is starting up and the Chiefs seem poised to finally not find a way to choke this year. However, they need to keep themselves out of trouble up in River Falls.

So tonight I was hanging out with Yops, my other soon to be roommate Ben, and some of their friends from back in Wichita. Good time, we grilled up some steaks and kabobs. Good stuff. We then just sat outside and watched the JCB's (ask me for details) come in and also watched it pour all night. For those of you outside of KS, we've been having crazy amounts of rain lately, its suppose to be bone dry and 90+ everyday this time of year, not so much this year though. Anyway, I'm moving in about 3 weeks and I'm starting to look forward to it. It will be nice to have some new people to hang out with and also save up some money. I'm still planning on looking at houses or townhomes after a year because I'm sick of throwing rent money away. If someone was smart they would work out a deal with apartment complexes to let a certain percentage of your rent go into a mortgage payment or something. As Sean Connery would say..."You're sitting on a gold mine, Trebeck." Well, maybe not, I'm sure someone has thought of that, but really they should try selling it more.

Oh one final thought...Did you see Sean Combs changed his name again? I mean come on, the guy seems like he has some talent and good business ideas, but pick a name and stick with it. Sorry, I refuse to call him 'Diddy' or whatever it is now. Next year it will probably be 'Did' or something, who knows.

Alrighty, well that is pretty much it for now.

I'm out like Richard Simmmons vis-a-vis a closet.

Living it up

So my 2 weeks of laziness has started. It feels great to have nothing to worry about at work and just relax. Today was definitely one of those days. I woke up to Matt calling me at 11:30 to ask me a question about formatting his computer. Since I have nothing better to do and it was about 200 degrees today, I went to the pool and attempted to get some sun. Maybe next time I'll actually talk to any of the hot girls who are there laying out by the pool. However, I need some excuse to talk to them, so if you have any ideas, let me know.

I got back from the pool and my friend Paul from back home called to tell me he was in town visiting his brother and sister-in-law. They asked me to meet up with them for dinner on the plaza, so we ended up going to pizzeria Uno. Good stuff, but definitely not Gino's East. After that, they talked me into seeing a really horrible waste of film reel known as 'Herbie Full Throttle'. There was only one thing keeping me watching and I think we all know what that is, yep Lindsey Lohan. I might go golfing with Paul and his brother tomorrow, but it is going to be 200 again, and that's just not golfing weather. Maybe I'll go though so I can get a round in and practice. I'm sure I still suck horribly.

I ended up finally watching Ocean's 12 last night. I had heard not so great of things about it, but I thought it was decent. Definitely not the first one, but it was still pretty good. I thought parts of it were kind of hard to follow and besides the main players, I kinda forgot who was who. Parts of it reminded me of The Italian Job, but overall, I'd watch it again. I burned it, so sometime I'll probably watch it again. That means I have Coach Carter coming to me. I love Netflix. I highly recommend it, and plus it is only $10/month. It is hard to pass up, however Blockbuster has somewhat redeemed itself by bringing back the instock guarantee.

Alright, well I'm out for now.

It's been awhile...

and a long year and a half. So first, I haven't posted in forever and I'm sick of Matt giving me a hard time for not posting. Thus, what am I doing? Making my first post in over 3 months. I'm sitting here watching game 7 of the NBA Finals. It's been a great series and a pure shame if you haven't been watching it. This is the first game 7 in 11 years. It definitely isn't the NBA of the great MJ, but I think it is starting to gain its appeal back.

Anyway, today was essentially my last day at that medical software company that continues to amaze me. I just have my exit interview tomorrow and then I'm done. It was a good experience in the fact that I learned not how to do a lot of things. Mainly you can't expect people to turn into trained monkeys. My timing to switch jobs could not have come at a better point though because one of the guys I'm leaving behind found out today he's going back under our old boss. He's not very happy about it and they're pulling him off of writing actual code. Which is an insult in itself because he has a degree in computer science not fricking MIS. Thus, I told him to get his resume back out there and do what I did, just walk away. I just don't understand why that company makes such drastic decisions to only cause low morale amongst its employees. Had I not found my new job, I would not have been happy either. I definitely would have asked to be moved to another team. The old boss is Lumburgh in so many ways it is crazy. Otherwise, I guess that is it. I cleaned my cube out (I left my cover sheet hanging for the next guy.) and walked out of that place for the final time tonight. At first I felt kind of bad for the guys I was leaving behind, but given the situation now, I don't the slightest.

I'm taking the next two weeks off and relaxing for the most part because I really haven't had a vacation since I went out to Michael's condo over New Years. It will be nice and well deserved I think. I'm flying out on my birthday to Boise to see Anne and Andy. It should be a good time, probably not as eventful as the last time I was out there though. However, I'm not sure how I'm going to live down the fact that I'm missing the Weezer/Cake concert from Matt. Tough call, but I'm sure they'll be back through at some point. Plus, it just wouldn't be the same without Andy there to inform everyone, "I'm going that way".

So that is pretty much it. Now that I'm actually going to have some free time with my new job, I'll probably keep this updated more. Until then, I'm closing this edition of the TPS report.

Screw KU

...and that is all I have to say about that. Oh, Bill Self has a rug, that too.

Lunch Lady Land

So I have to start out with my lunch trip to IHOP on Tuesday for this edition of the TPS Report. We usually end up going to Subway on Tuesday's for lunch because they have an amazing deal on most of their sandwiches starting at $3, so if you haven't taken advantage of that in the past, I highly suggest you do. The guy I was with was taking a class and had to be back by a certain time for lunch, so the line was out the door at Subway and starting to wrap around the building. We decide we can't wait, but hope IHOP would be quicker somehow. We go in, the lady sits us down and tells the guy I'm with he has the most amazing eyes she has ever seen. He's like ok, sure whatever, you're weird, just take our order and give us our food please. Well, she comes back to take our order and she can't look at him because of his eyes. Again, I don't get it, but whatever. She then starts telling everyone who is working there about them and thus we have a different person bring our food out, one waitress came up and asked if everything was alright. It was pretty obvious as we had both finished, our plates clean and she doesn't bother to pick them up. The craziest part of this whole thing is as we're getting up and go pay the waitress comes out to thank us and then she grabs my friend and takes him back to the kitchen to let them see his eyes! What the crap? I'm just standing there trying not to lose it because this is just too weird and we're only computer nerds who just want to eat and get back to work. Thus, we won't be making a repeat visit to the local IHOP.

The KU-K-State basketball game was last night and we came so fricking close to beating them at home on senior night and the 50th anniversary of Allen Fieldhouse. I was so pissed at some of the calls they were getting away with. Oh well, typical KU basketball. Next year though I predict that we will beat them in basketball and DESTROY them in football. I ended up meeting a friend from school and her fiance at the K-State hang out here in KC for the game. I'd never been there before and it was a cool place, but as the game was getting over, all of these random what appeared to be 16 year olds start taking the place over. Apparently it turns into a club of some sorts after 10. As we walked out they had this sign up that said "Proper Attire Required" and as we read further, it said "Absolutely no athletic apparel allowed." Well, all three of us had some K-State shirt on, so clearly we were in violation. Back to the 16 year olds though...who lets their kid out on a school night that late to go to a club/bar?

Alright, this edition must come to a close. I'm out.

FOX Broadcasting Company: 24

FOX Broadcasting Company: 24

So tonight without a doubt is my favorite night of the week. It all starts out with 24, then a little halo2. If you haven't seen 24, well you should watch it, but there's no point right now because it would make no sense. This season just blows all of the others away I think. Something is always happening and each episode ends with another twist. For those of you who read this and might watch, I won't go into any details tonight. However, moral of the story, watch 24 on DVD when it comes out.

Wow, what a week.

I've decided to move away from the crappy site that is diaryland and use Blogger which is much better and plus I think Google has something to do with it. It's always been up on my Google bar and now its time to utilize it. Thus the TPSReport continues here. I found out that there is a band called TPS Report. How cool is that?

Alright, well a rundown of my week is something like this. I have a new boss at work which is a very very good thing. My old boss made things very difficult and I always felt like he was well just like Lumburgh. He even did the "Yeah..." and "Mmm...k, Great". Have you seen that Southwest commercial where they talk about weekend fares or something and everyone runs out of the building cause they're so happy? Yeah that was me on Tuesday after we had the meeting and found out. There was one point after the week I took off for Christmas while my old boss was gone on vacation that I really don't mind my job all that much, it is just having to work for "the man", as we called him. Thus no more!!! I have a whole new outlook on my job and I'm hoping things will be a lot better with my new boss. He's been with the company 4 years and is moving up from being an engineer like me. Thus it should be a learning process for all of us. Probably the best part so far was a meeting we had with just the 2 other guys I work with, my new boss, and old boss. Well, my old boss was trying to give suggestions to the new boss, like how to handle this, or this has worked well in the past, etc. I could tell my new boss didn't really want to listen and the old boss just didn't want to let us go. What I think happened basically was that he had too many people to manage, they didn't think he was doing a good job, so they broke his team down into 5 smaller teams. Couldn't be a better thing let me tell you. That is pretty much it from the job front, so I'm hoping my new boss will be fully in control of things by the middle of next week.

So, the big news around here has been the BTK is caught. I'm not all that familiar with the guy or what happened, but since he's from Wichita, I've heard of him from time to time. I guess he committed 10 murders from the mid 1970's to the mid 1980's. Ever since people thought he just died on his own and lost it or something. However he resurfaced last year and they finally managed to get him. The details are still coming in, but this is a pretty big deal since they've been after him for 30 years now or something.

I've been playing Andy in various games on MSN lately which is a good time let me tell you. Of course he is TGCOE, and in his mind will always be, but I've taken him for a run on Poker and Wheel of Fortune lately. He still owns me in checkers and tic tac toe, so if you want to beat me down on something, you probably will. Wheel is great though because I'll let him and Anne all but solve a puzzle, then let them miss a letter, lose a turn, or go bankrupt and then win. Ah good times though. It reminds me of the days we played pool on yahoo and were sitting 3 feet from each other.

Alright, well I'm out to go see Pomeroy in Lawrence tonight with Yops. I haven't seen them since I left Manhattan which amazingly has been 2 years now. I'm interested to hear some of their new stuff. Should be a good time and I haven't seen Yops for awhile.

As Stuart Scott would say, "Bunnies".
